Adult Team Challenges

What Are They? Team Challenges are held primarily on weekday holidays, when few players are committed to leagues and other events: July 4, Labor Day, and Columbus Day. Others might be scheduled as interest dictates. Players sign up, and are assigned to one of two even teams by Russ Carrington. Each player gets several shorter matches, usually doubles but some singles, and tries to earn points for his/her team. The team with the most points is declared the winner.

Who are They For? Team Challenges are primarily for members of the club, for whom there is no charge. Nonmembers occasionally are invited to participate to help create even teams ($5 guest fee).

When Are They Held? This is the schedule for 2010:

  • Monday, July 5: July 4 Team Challenge (8:30 AM - Noon)
  • Monday, Sept. 6: Labor Day Team Challenge (8:30 AM - Noon)
  • Monday, Oct. 11: Columbus Day Team Challenge (8:30 AM - Noon)

How Do I Register? Contact Russ Carrington no later than 6PM of the day before the tournament. The schedule is then finalized, after which no new entries will be accepted. Arrive at least ten minutes early to warm up and receive your schedule.
