Tennis Stuff Links: 2010 BRETON BAY YOUTH POLAR BEAR TOURNAMENT ANNOUNCEMENT WHEN IS IT? This tournament is scheduled for February 20 - 21 (Saturday and Sunday), 2010. The rain/snow date is Saturday, Feb. 27 followed by Sunday, Feb. 28 if necessary. WHO IS IT FOR? The tournament is open to youth players, male or female, of alll levels, who can serve and keep score. It is particularly recommended for high school players of all levels, to help them prepare for March tryouts. Players are placed in brackets with other players of similar ability level, to ensure good competition. EVENTS: Singles, Doubles, or both. Girls and boys might be assigned to the same bracket. A boy and girl may sign up for doubles together. However, no separate Mixed Doubles event is provided unless there are enough entries. MATCH FORMAT: This will depend on the number of players in each bracket. Normally, the first round consists of at least three shorter matches (10 game pro sets, for example) followed by a final round that is 2/3 sets. TROPHIES: Due to the high cost of providing so many matches, there are no trophies for this event. REGISTRATION PROCEDURE: To register, a hard copy of your registration form plus fee must be received no later than 9PM on the Wednesday prior to tournament. If not in mail by Monday, hand delivery is strongly recommended. Draw will be made sometime after 9PM on Wednesday, at which point no new entries will be allowed.
